Some of the most popular design furniture we see today are often reproductions of classic designs from many many years ago. This is La Chaise, a chair by Charles and Ray Eames. It is a popular piece that has been copied quite often. The original design is from 1948 and is a fibreglass seat shell on a wood and steel base. Designers Charles and Ray Eames submitted this chair for an in international competition for low-cost furniture design. The design proved to be too expenisive to manufacture at the time. I love the fact that even though the design is from the 1940's it still today has a modern and contemporary appeal to it. Thanks to the abstract form and simple lines. You've got to love a chair as sleek as this one.
