Open house - classic apartment with modern decor

I love it when people combine contrasting styles, which is the case in this next apartment. The apartment itself is build in a classic style with classic details in the ceiling, the mantel and the wall paneling in the bedroom. I like it that the owners have kept the decor minimalistic and modern using a few great furniture and art pieces. Love the art work on the wall and the stack of books. Nicely done!

Open house - Stylish Parisian apartment with colourful accents

I love this Parisian apartment! It is fresh and stylish and I love the bright colourful accents. The owner has a fantastic eye for detail, every item in this place is special: every chair, every lamp, every cushion. Every time I look at the images I see new things. I love the butterfly chair, ofcourse! I just bought one in brown this week. And how fantasic is that kitchen! The fuschia sink is brilliant!

Inspiration board: black, white, grey with a touch of yellow

Here is another inspiration board that I want to share with you. It's not for my home though. Monday night a good friend of mine came by to see my place and to have a quick bite to eat. He just bought a beautiful '30's house with big windows and old features. And being a guy, he had no idea what to do with it decor wise. The house itself has some yellow elements (yellow tainted glass in the windows, and yellow portuguese tiles in the kitchen). We sat down and brainstormed a for a while, showed him some images here on my blog and we came up with a black, white and grey interior with yellow as an accent colour. I put together some images and did a quick online shoppinground and made him this inspiration board. He loves it! And I feel like a happy little decor fairy :-) So what do you think?

Cool DIY tip... paint a monthly planner on your wall!

I stumbled upon this image and I love the idea! How cool is this? A monthly planner all up on your wall. This should be rather easy to do. All you need is a big wall, some masking tape and black chalkboard paint. Use the masking tape to form a grid of 5 rows of 7 squares. Paint everything with the black chalkboard paint and when dry remove masking tape. Use chalk to add the numbers in all the boxes (or use white paint and a template) and voila, you have a monthly planner on your wall. I've painted a small wall in my kitchen with black chalkboard paint to put little messages or write grocery lists. But I'm thinking of doing this on the wall in my white and very blah hallway... what do you think?
