Mocca & Me weekend quick list - week 39/2011

Hello dears! It's that favorite day of the week for most of us again, friday! And it's a happy friday for us here in the Netherlands because we've been experiencing a few days of surprisingly great weather with lots of sun. Pretty unusual for this time of year. So, I'll be enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend. Here is a quick list with great links to enjoy. Have a great weekend!

Best wishes!
Natascha xoxo

Eye candy
Isn't this a pretty sight? That grey velvet sofa against that grey wall is very very nice!

Webshop to visit!
One of my favorite bloggers is the fabulous Tiina from Sweden who is the founder of the blog ELCE Living. And I am happy to announce that she has launched her own ELCE Living interior lifestyle brand! How cool is that? You can shop for beautiful cushions in the online store here. Keep this store on your radar as Tiina will be adding more beautiful things in the time to come.

Blog tip
Ahhh, you'll love the blog In Spaces Between! It is filled with inspiration for decor, food, style and life. It's my new daily read and everytime the posts leave me inspired and energized.

DIY idea!
Looking for an unusual idea to create a room divider? Check out this fantastic 'wall' made of ropes!!! Very cool idea! And inexpensive too! Too bad I don't have spaces to divide.

Quick recipe
Here is a recipe for a caprese grilled cheese sandwich. I'm not great at cooking, but a sandwich I'm willing to make. And THIS sandwich looks delicious. I think I'm going to try it this weekend.

Listen to
I don't know if you all know the TV talent show The Voice of Holland (there are other versions in other countries now as well)? Well, last week there was a fantastic audition that left the entire country talking. His name is Guy (he's originally from Israel) and he sang one of my all time favorite songs True Colours - originally by Cindy Lauper - while he played the piano. Listen to his fantastic audition (troughout you'll hear the judges' reactions, sorry about that).

Another fab find! The Flux Chair...

The Flux what? The Flux Chair! It is a genius folding chair that is easy to put together or to fold and mount to a wall to save space. Another piece of great Dutch design. You can easily bring it with you to the beach or the parc as it weighs next to nothing. The Flux chair not only saves you lots of space and is super practical, it also has the look of a modern designer chair. And it comes in eight contemporary colours. You can pull it out when you have extra guests for dinner at home. And they're handy to have around the office as well. You can quickly fold a few extra chairs when you need more seatings at a meeting. It is called Flux because it combines flexibility with luxury. Don't you just love this chair? They come with cushions for even more comfort. For more information visit the website And you know what? They're pretty affordable as well. Want one? Visit the webshop here.

Home tour - a modern apartment with cool colours

Inspired by the previous post I decided to post this beautiful, modern, fresh apartment. The crips white walls combined with the modern furniture and the cool blue and grey accents make this apartment just stunning. I spot Eames chairs in the dining area and in the kitchen. And love the striped throw in the first image. Great accesories and pieces are so important when decorating your home, don't you agree? But my favorite room is the bedroom with the freestanding wall, that looks like it's covered with a wood-like wallpaper. I'm assuming that on the other side of that wall is a huge closet. But the best feature must be all that light that pours in! So, when can I move in?

Would you dare? Decorating with dark and strong colours...

I really like the look in the images below, especially in the first photo. The dark grey walls, the clasic lighter grey sofa and the strong coloured accesories. It's a beautiful combination, a grey background and strong blue and puple accents.Very beautiful and very bold. Although I love the colour combo, I'm not sure I would ever have the guts to go for something like this. Would you dare? Or do you prefer a lighter colour palette for your home? And how cool is that floor in the second photo?

Fab find! Super cool repurposed cabinets by OUD NOW

I have a fantastic fab find I am very excited to share with you! I love the idea of finding old furniture and giving them new life by upholstering them or giving them a new coat of paint. But the Dutch label OUD NOW goes a bit further! Designer Theo Herfkens gives old furniture a whole new look by combining part of an old cabinet with a newly made modern base cabinet. This way he recreates a completely different, new and unique piece of furniture. What a simple and genius concept! And the cabinets look very cool. To see more of his work visit the website

I am drooling over this livingroom! Isn't it just so very cool? I love how spacy it is and how light. But I also like the bookcases, the various different chairs combined together and the little orange buddha in the nook underneath the ceiling. And I think I spot an olive tree? I like everything about this space and I could actually live here. Lovely!

As clear as glass! Decorating idea: glass vases!

I love glass vases and I truly think that they can add a litte something special to your home. They are great to decorate fireplace mantels, put on a table in a dull corner or to display on your shelving. A friend of mine has a beautiful collection of different styles and shapes of vases in a wide range of colours that she displays in her bookcase. Everytime I'm at her house I like to look at her collection. So, inspired by my friend here are some images to inspire you too!

Mocca & Me receives The Versatile Blogger award! Thank you!

Mocca & Me was awarded The Versatile Blogger award! What a nice gesture! By accpeting this award I am required to do a few things. 1. Thank the person who nominated me and link back to their blog. 2. Share 7 things about myself. 3. Pass this award along to 15 of my favorite recently discoverd blogs. How fun! So, here it goes...

First of all I have to thank the lovely Shelly of Confetti Style blog for nominating me. What a sweet thing! Your gesture put a smile on my face!

Now I have to share seven (random) things about myself:
1. I recently got my PADI Open Water diver certificate.
2. I have lots of plants in my apartment. Plants bring a home to life and I believe that everyone should have plants in their homes.
3. I love paint. It has the abillity to transform any room or furniture into something new and fantastic. In fact, I believe that paint is one of the greatest inventions of all time :-) Well, besides electricity, penicillin and coffee ;-)
4. Speaking of coffee, I am addicted to coffee and can not talk or see straight without having a cup of coffee first in the morning.
5. I love watching cooking shows, reading food blogs and I love to eat. But... I hate to cook. How strange is that, huh?
6. When I was about seven years old I wanted bangs. Mom said no, so I decided to do it myself. I took a chunck of hair at the front of my head and cut it!! For weeks I walked around looking like rats had chewed on my head, ha!
7. I actually need to wear reading glasses, but I don't.

And I'm passing this award along to the following 15 blogs I recently discoverd:
1. Bright Bazaar (Decor)
2. La-la Linh (Decor, fashion, lifestyle)
3. Mimi + Meg (Decor, art)
4. Iiinspired (Fashion and decor)
5. Closet Cooking (Food)
6. Rack and Ruin (Fashion and lifestyle)
7. With love from Kat (Fashion, travel, decor, lifestyle)
8. Table Tonic (Decor, lifestyle)
9. The colourful living project (Decor, lifestyle, weddings, DIY)
10. What's for lunch honey? (Food)
11. Life + Style (Decor, DIY)
12. 6th street design school (Design)
13. Design Darling (Fashion, Decor)
14. 10 rooms design (Decor)
15. Bubblegarm (Beauty)
Please take a few minutes to check out these lovely blogs. I know you'll enjoy reading them just as much as I do.

Much love,
Natascha xoxo
