Blog alert! + home tour

I just discovered the blog Elv's this week and I'm just ecstatic about it! The blog is written by Dutch interior junkie Elvera and it is now on my list of daily reads. As a true decor fanatic she is always transforming her own home. And, lucky for us, always has a camera near to shoot the beautiful images of her life and home which she shares on her blog. Her fabulous sense of style can be seen (below) in her own home that also shows her love for Scandinavian aesthetic. I urge you to hop on over to Elv's blog and start clicking away: www.elv-s.blogspot.nl. You'll love it. Really, what are you still doing here? Go! Now!

Stylish minimalistic interior in sober gray's

I'm popping by quickly to share with you this next home I found. Sober, minimalistic and gray is how I would describe this place. Doesn't mean it isn't stylish, though. I love the dining area with de Eames DSW chairs and that couch looks super comfortable. The lamps in this place are great. I especially like the little white bedroom lamp. The house could use some plants and flowers, don't you agree? I truly believe every home should have some green. Nonetheless, lovely space. Enjoy the home tour!

Happy week + words of wisdom

One of the things that brings me joy is my love for decor and design. That is how Mocca & Me started; as a little online outlet for me to share my passion. Another thing I'm passionate about is my continuous pursuit of understanding people and life - and with that, understanding myself and my own path in life. I'm interested in anything about this subject - books, movies, people to talk to - that I can learn from. And I'm always trying in every situation, to find the lessons life wants to teach me. One of the most valuable lessons I've learned through the years is the importance of following your heart and listening to your intuition. So often we let the noise of other people's opinions determine our choices and distract us from who we are and what we truly want. But really, all we have to do is listen to our inner voice. It's the only compass we need to guide us through life. Every now and then we loose track of this notion, so did I. Therefore, it's good to be reminded again of what's important... Have a happy week, dears!

Mocca & Me weekend quick list - week 33/2012

It's that time of the week again: friday! Which means sharing some of my favorite links of the week with you. Any plans? I'm popping by my cousin's birthday on saturday and later I'm off to Amsterdam for dinner and drinks with an acquaintance. Since it's fantastic weather here I'm probably going to the beach on sunday and I'm cooking someone a nice dinner later that day. What are you all doing? I'd love to hear.

Have a great one, dears!
Natascha xoxo

Eye candy
I like to collect pretty images which I then share here with you. I recently discoverd Pintrest and I never thought I'd spend so much time pinning images on an online pinboard. Addictive! I love the pinboard in this image. A collection of pictures of your favorite things and loved ones to look at all the time - always beats an online pinboard, right?. Are you on Pintrest? Are you just as addicted? Please let me know I'm not alone in this :)

Let's visit
... the house of Spanish designer Jaime Hayon and his Dutch photographer wife Nienke Klunder for a tour of their Valencia home.

Do you know
...what your passion is? Did you know and then lost track of it? Need a little help finding it? Here is a great and fun exercise to help you determine what your passions are. I also did this exercise and I found it very inspiring!

Blog/food tip
All of us decor bloggers know MadeByGirl, right? Jen always posts about the food her husband makes for her. Husband Matt has now created his own blog where he shares the recipes of all the lovely food he makes for his wife. The blog is called MadeForJen: isn't that the sweetest thing? Hop on over for great recipes.

Bonus home tour
Saw this beautiful Melbourne home over at 79Ideas! Stunning home with Arab style influences.

Reading tip
Check out the interview with the talented Erika of Small Shop Studio over on Mimi + Meg blog. Plus: the latest issues of Lonny, Rue and Matchbook magazines are out now!

Sound bites
I'm sending you off into the weekend with a funky tune: It ain't all good by De La Soul with Chaka Khan. I recently went to a concert of De La Soul in Amsterdam. This is one of my favorite songs of them. 'Cause really, when things 'ain't going like the way they should', it usually really is 'all on you' ;-) Enjoy!

P.s. show some love and hit Mocca & Me with a like on Facebook or become a Twitter follower.

Work that space! + Gratitude

Work is the place where we spend most of our time. So I believe that a nice work environment is important. An organized and uncluttered work space is just as important (along with a fulfilling and rewarding job and great colleagues, of course). I find myself being far more efficient when my desk is clean and my computer files are organized, don't you? It's like I'm able to think clearer. Right now on the desk in my home office I have a big stack of documents and mail I need to sort out - it's a small mess. It annoys me quite a bit, 'cause I'm tidy person and like having things organized. But instead of clearing away the mess, I wasted my time looking at pictures of pretty work spaces. Much more fun than doing paperwork, right? Hopefully this will give me some inspiration to get on with it.
On a different note: today I saw that Mocca & Me now has 175 likes on the Facebook page! Yay! And also 285 google readers, 144 Twitter followers and an average of 4.000 unique visitors a month! So, here is a big thank you to all of you reading my little blog! You fill my heart with joy ♥

House tour! Photographer Jakob Nylunds home

I'm a visual person and I love to observe. There is so much you can learn by just quietly observing the world around you. As a kid I used to do that a lot. It's how I learned to understand people, assess situations, how I learned to read between the lines and to hear the what's not being said. Still today I can spend a great deal of time sitting by myself at the beach or on a park bench just looking at life around me, imagining stories behind the faces of people passing by. Being a visual person is why I love photography and looking at images (and not just the pretty ones). I've been a fan of photographer Jakob Nylund for a while now, so imagine my excitement when I found out he has a blog where he shares photo's of bits and pieces of his life. My decor loving heart filled with even more joy when I saw he posted  images of his home! So beautiful. And since Mocca & Me is a decor blog, I need to share his home with all of you. Isn't his place great? I do encourage you to visit his blog http://blog.formconspiracy.se for more of his work, it's fantastic. Enjoy dears!

Online decor magazine Llamas' Valley

Not so long ago I received an e-mail asking me if I would like to post about Llamas' valley. I had not heard of this online magazine before and so I was very curious to slide through the pages. Loved it! Llamas' valley brings you beautiful and interesting homes and great stories about creative and inspiring people. It's on my list of 'must reads' now. Thanks Alge Ramanauskiene (editor in chief) for tipping me. Enough talk! Hop on over and enjoy Llamas' valley: www.llamasvalley.com.

Hello monday!

My dears! I'm still struggling to find time to blog! So, forgive me the long moments of absence.
But, here I am to share with you some words of inspiration. A few day ago I had a conversation with a wise person about the meaning of true love; wanting the best and all that gives happiness to the one you love. So when I came across the quote below it reminded me of that conversation. I truly believe that if we're lucky, we have one or few people in our lives that are truly dear to us and whom we love selflessly and unconditionally. I'm very fortunate and grateful to have a few of them in my life! And I'm hoping, if I'm lucky, maybe a few more will pass through my life. It's my wish for you too. Have a beautiful week! xoxo
