Hello my dears! Friday is here, which means it's the weekend. And a very special weekend it is, it's when most of us celebrate Christmas. I'm keeping it simple with a small dinner at my home with my mother and brother on Christmas day. Amsterdam apartment with a kitchen that's too cool!

This is one cool apartment in Amsterdam you have to see! The neutral colours form a great basis for the interesting furniture pieces displayed troughout the home. Great old leather chesterfield sofa, a random retro hair dryer that's used as an accessory, great chairs and love all the lamps. Especially the one above the PC workarea, it looks like a dentist lamp. How unique! But my favorite feature in this apartment is the kitchen. That kitchen faucet is fantastic! Enjoy the tour!

Eye candy

Isn't this place just purdy :-) Simple and chic. I think I have a thing for velvet fabrics because I'm liking the cushions a lot. And those chairs in bamboo-look are very nice. But what I like the most are those curtains. What a great idea to combine different fabrics and colours like that. Very beautiful.

Mindblowing
I found a website by Dutch film artist selfcontrolfreak where he made some mindblowing interactive little films. Too cool not to share. You'll be amazed. Let me know what you think.

Lay a rubber Dude on your floor! Super cool recycled rubber carpets

I have something super cool to share with you! It is called the Dude and it is a modular system of recycled pieces of rubber. The individual pieces are shaped like flower that slip into eachother to make a carpet or (bath)math in any shape you want, as big as you want. You can make your own design and change it as many times as you want. What is even more cool about the Dude is that is made out of inner truck tires, giving them a second life. And the Dude is easy in maintenance too, just wash with water and soap. The Dude is designed by Dutch designer Manon Juliette who you might know of her leather Feliz carpets. Great organizing tip

I'm always reaching to the floor to find the different tangled up cables of my printer, usb cord, electricy cord to connect to my laptop. I don't have a dockingstation. Here is a super simple way to organize these cables so they'll never have to get on the floor looking for cables again.

Feeling kinda heavy! Concrete lamps...

Concrete lamps, you say? Yes, that's exactly what I said. I discoverd some lamps made of concrete! Now that in itself make them cool items! I love the rough look and simplicity of these lamps. I think the first lamp, inspired by the shape of the lightbulb, is my favorite. You should really make sure they're securely attached to the ceiling. You don't want these lamps to fall on your head, ha!

Well, it's not actually a room I have a crush on. It's more the neon pink paint colour. I came across these images and I fell head over heals with this wall! Isn't it just stunning? Although my home doesn't have a lot of colour - it's more a mix of taupe, beige, browns and neutrals - I realy feel like painting a wall this exact same neon pink colour! Maybe one of the walls in the hall. Hhhmmm, not sure. Or I could just do a colour accent, like in the second image. What do you think? Love it or hate it?

Home tour - a modern apartment with cool colours

Inspired by the previous post I decided to post this beautiful, modern, fresh apartment. The crips white walls combined with the modern furniture and the cool blue and grey accents make this apartment just stunning. I spot Eames chairs in the dining area and in the kitchen. And love the striped throw in the first image. Great accesories and pieces are so important when decorating your home, don't you agree? But my favorite room is the bedroom with the freestanding wall, that looks like it's covered with a wood-like wallpaper. I'm assuming that on the other side of that wall is a huge closet. But the best feature must be all that light that pours in! So, when can I move in?

I really like the look in the images below, especially in the first photo. The dark grey walls, the clasic lighter grey sofa and the strong coloured accesories. It's a beautiful combination, a grey background and strong blue and puple accents.Very beautiful and very bold. Although I love the colour combo, I'm not sure I would ever have the guts to go for something like this. Would you dare? Or do you prefer a lighter colour palette for your home? And how cool is that floor in the second photo?

Fab find! Super cool repurposed cabinets by OUD NOW

I have a fantastic fab find I am very excited to share with you! I love the idea of finding old furniture and giving them new life by upholstering them or giving them a new coat of paint. But the Dutch label OUD NOW goes a bit further! Designer Theo Herfkens gives old furniture a whole new look by combining part of an old cabinet with a newly made modern base cabinet. This way he recreates a completely different, new and unique piece of furniture. What a simple and genius concept! And the cabinets look very cool. I am drooling over this livingroom! Isn't it just so very cool? I love how spacy it is and how light. I love coming across young talent! I spotted the interior design firm Living with Robin on facebook and I decided I had to share this with all of you. The woman behind Living with Robin is the young and talented Robin van der Vegt who studied interior design at the European Institute for Design in Barcelona. I love glass vases and I truly think that they can add a litte something special to your home. They are great to decorate fireplace mantels, put on a table in a dull corner or to display on your shelving. A friend of mine has a beautiful collection of different styles and shapes of vases in a wide range of colours that she displays in her bookcase. First of all I have to thank the lovely Shelly of Confetti Style blog for nominating me. What a sweet thing! Your gesture put a smile on my face!

Now I have to share seven (random) things about myself:

1. I recently got my PADI Open Water diver certificate.

2. I have lots of plants in my apartment. Plants bring a home to life and I believe that everyone should have plants in their homes.

3. I love paint. It has the abillity to transform any room or furniture into something new and fantastic. In fact, I believe that paint is one of the greatest inventions of all time :-) Well, besides electricity, penicillin and coffee ;-)

4. Speaking of coffee, I am addicted to coffee and can not talk or see straight without having a cup of coffee first in the morning.

5. I love watching cooking shows, reading food blogs and I love to eat. But... I hate to cook. How strange is that, huh?

6. When I was about seven years old I wanted bangs. Mom said no, so I decided to do it myself. I took a chunck of hair at the front of my head and cut it!! For weeks I walked around looking like rats had chewed on my head, ha!

7. I actually need to wear reading glasses, but I don't.

Don't you just love a room where everything screams style? That is exactly the case with this kitchen. I am in love with this space for many reasons. First of all, how stunning are those three Tom Dixon Copper Shade lamps hanging together? I really like that the owners used a red electrical cord. I like the minimal kitchen and the lack of top cabinets, keeping it open and simple. Although I don't think I would choose that tile for the backsplash, I do like the tiles combined with the copper lamps. And that floating kitchen table that looks like its flows into the cabinets is my favorite feature. Love the white Eames chairs and like the spanish/portugese looking bowls and accesories. Had the owners used stainles steel accesories, like in the kitchen, the whole would have looked a bit cold. Now this kitchen looks modern yet colourful and warm. Love it!

We all know actress Courtney Cox, especially from her role as the neurotic Monica in te hugely popular series Friends. In the series Countney's character had an eclectic, colourful, mix-and-match NY apartment, of which I wasn't a big fan (remember that blue kitchen?). In real life Courtney lives in a super stylish home that is light, sophisticated and serene. I love the colour palette of - what I think are - masculine colours and yet the home feels very feminine. Fab find! Old mixed folk tiles wallpaper by Louise Body

I am so excited about this next find I almost fainted when I found it! I love the look of old mixed folk tiles like the ones you see in old Portugese or Spanish homes. I love the nostaligic look they have and they bring colour and warmth to a home. And it reminds me of Spain where many years ago I lived for a few months as an exchange student and fell in love with the country. So, imagine my excitement when I found these wallpapers over at Louise Body.

I remember many years ago there was a home make-over show here in the Netherlands where one family had their home redecorated in a morrocan style. One of the main features in the home was a wall in the livingroom(!) completely coverd in these type of tiles. And I thought it looked spectacular!!! I never forgot it. So, ever since I've been in love with these tiles. Now, covering an entire wall with tiles is a bit drastic and a hasle when you want to change things. So, how fab is it that you can create the look with these wallpapers?

Louise Body is a designer of wallpapers and fabrics based in the UK. The designs all have a little nostalgia to them and have a bit of a romantic look. Visit the online shop to have a look at the rest of the collection or to order.

I would love one day to have a very modern kitchen with these tiles as a backsplash. You could also cover the backsplash with wallpaper and then putting a protective layer over it. My favorite ones are the one all the way up in the first image, called Mixed folk, and the one with the yellow tiles called Dhalia.

Modern and elegant home in the south of Spain

I hadn't planned on surfing the internet today because I have a list of other things to do before tomorrow and going online always ends up taking so much more time than I intended. But, I did go online and found this beautiful home that I had to share with you. Very modern yet so elegant with a classic feel to it. This home is located in the south of Spain and I must say, I think the Spanish have great sense of style. I love the living room, I really love the artwork and the bedroom is a dream. How about that side table? I want one just like that. Ok, I'm signing off to do other useful things. I'm really really going. I swear! Have a wonderful sunday!

I am SO excited about this next blog, called The Design Files, I can hardly contain myself. When I stumbled upon this blog a few days ago I a felt a a little rush of adrenaline go through my veins.You know, the kind of rush you get when you unexpectedly find something fantastic? I knew immediately I was going to be hooked. I spent hours reading every single post and it's now one of my daily reads. This blog is a true gem among all the other blogs out there in blogsphere.
The Design Files was founded in 2008 by Australian set dresser and stylist Lucy Feagins. The blog covers articles about design, architecture, interiors, art, craft and graphic design and it has regular features like interviews and guest blogs. Main focus of the blog is Australian design but you'll find great stories about international design as well.

What I love about this blog is that every topic of every post is so interesting and fresh and I actually read all the text of every article. There are blogs I visit where I don't really read the copy, I just scroll through the images. But The Design Files reads like a magazine and there is so much interesting information and little facts in every article.

My favorite feature is Australian homes where you can visit the homes of Australian residents and read about the people who live there. The homes are stunning and I am now convinced that Australians have a fantastic sense of style.

I've spent my sunday afternoon painting. And I promised to share it with you if it wasn't too bad. And so, here it is, the fruit of my labor, my very own self made painting. It's no masterpiece and it didn't take much time to make, but it's not too bad. I'm content with it. So, what do you think? Honest opinion please (and you don't have to like it, that's o.k.).

Here the painting was just finished and not dry yet. (Sorry for the image quality, photo's were taken with my phone).

The materials. I used acrylic paint on painting paper. The white base colour I used is just regular latex wall paint (I know, fancy huh :-P ).

And here it is signed and framed and hanging on my livingroom wall. I've noticed that when the paint dries the colours change, the colours become paler. That was a bit disappointing. But oh well, I'm o.k. with how it turned out. A happy sunday to you all.

Sunday inspiration - a bit of art

Today I'm posting about something a little different. I'm doing an artsy post. I've always wanted to have a beautiful piece of art in my home and I love looking at paintings in online galleries. Buying a painting from an artist can be quite a costly matter and that's why I still have not bought anything. But then I thought, why not make something myself? I used to make pretty decent work in art class in school when I was younger. So, I have been collecting images online of paintings that I like for inspiration. These are a few of my favorites. Today is sunday and I'm staying in and decided to try a little painting... Wish me luck. If it's not too bad I might show you the result ;-) So, how about you? Do you have art hanging in your home?

Obessing over this Ikat lamp shade!

Blogs will ruin my life, I swear! Remember in this post I told you I was thinking of creating a little work space in my guest room? Well I did find a second hand little writing desk and an office chair for cheap on the online secondhand marketplace Marktplaats over the weekend. And I had decided that I was going to do one black wall and the rest of the walls grey and all the accesories in grey and black and chrome. I even made an inspiration board. I was going to get rid of all the blue I have in the room at this moment. And then, today, I visited DesireTo Inspire and saw THIS ikat lamp shade!!!

All the plans I made and decorating ideas I had went flying out the window! I now want this lamp shade, and I want it BAD! And it doesn't go with the inspiration board I made. Just when I thought I had figured out what I wanted, I find something that makes me want something completely different. It is so frustrating to visit blogs because it makes me change my mind about my interior decorating all the time. Do you ever experience this? New products by Dutch design duo Scholten & Baijings

Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings recently introduced a few new products to their design collection that I tought was worth sharing with you. All the designs have the distinct Scholten & Baijings colour scheme in bright, fresh and unexpected colour combinations. The duo is best known for their colourful plaids but also has a notable collection of glassware, furniture and lighting. For more information or to see the entire collection visit their website www.scholtenbaijings.com. Here are my favorites of the collection.

These felted wool carpets calles Dot carpet have a simple and sharp design in realy bright neon colours. These colours remind me of the eighties where every one wore neon coloured clothes and accesories. Fun!

The duvet covers are from the Colour blocks series and are made out of 100% cotten. I imagine you'd have to wake up with a smile in the morning with these cheerful coloured sheets.

I love these bright kitchen towels above Grandiet and Hanging grid. A great addition to the exsisting collection.

Scholten & Baijings have also added a few new carpet (below) designs to their collection. The carpets are all tufted 100% new-zealand wool.

Dutch Design: Thread art on your wall by Mo Man Tai

I recently received an email from Ulrike Jurklies - the designer behind Dutch Design label Mo Man Tai - telling me about her latest work. And I was instantly excited! I love her work and have blogged about Mo Man Tai here, here and here. Her latest project is called Masterpieces and it's a pattern sheet that helps your create unique art on your wall with just a few nails and thread. The patternsheet has four designs and all you need is a hammer, nails and thread. You just attach the sheet on the wall, hammer the nails into the wall on the numbered dots on the sheets, string a tread or yarn from nail to nail in order of the numbers on the sheet, remove the sheet when you're done and voilá. You can choose any colour of thread or yarn to suit your interior. Isn't it brilliant? www.momantai-design.com.

The patternsheets are for sale at the Mo Man Tai webshop here. The patterns are inspired by famous Dutch paintings like The girl with the pearl earing by Vermeer and Sunflowers by Van Gogh.

Mo Man Tai also has other great designs. A few months ago I bought the keychain Faith, Hope & Love featured below. We all know the symbols in the form of a necklace pendant, often given as a gift. Mo Man Tai has taken these three symbols and created a unique new design. I love it! I love looking at it on my keychain and the idea that I have it with me all the time. You could also wear it as a pendant on a necklace (see last image). It's for sale in the shop here.

Home office inspiration

I've been thinking of creating a work space, a little office area in my home. When I moved to my apartment last october I decided I didn't need one because I have a large dining table and I would do my work there. Since I have been living here I only sat down to work at that dining table a couple of times. The table is just a bit too high to work at comfortably and I usually sit on the sofa, facing the t.v., to work. Not ideal. So, I have decided to create a little work space in the guest room where I can sit comfortably and work. I've gathered some images for inspiration. I love the black wall. But I also love placing the desk in front of a window, although my view doesn't include the Eiffel tower. What does your home office look like?

In the spotlight: the bubblicious lamp by Dutch designer Chis Kabel

Today I want to put the spotlight on Dutch designer Chis Kabel and in particular on one specific design, the Bubblicious lamp. This lamp has been around for a while now and Kabel has had an exhibition of this lamp the Dutch National Glass Museum a few years back. But I recently stumbled upon it and fell in love with its simple beauty all over again...

What is so special about this glass lamp is that each and every one is unique. Every glass bubble is blown by mouth through a special set of pliers. This gives every glass bubble a different shape. Chris Kabel is also known for his sticky lamp he designed in 2001 for the label Droog. More information on his designs and projects visit his website www.chriskabel.com.

I found this image in my computer file and had to share it with you all. Isn´t this a simple and fresh room? I´m usually not so big on white walls and floors, but in this case I actually really like it. It´s so light and clean. But my favorite part of the entire room is definitely the shelving. I love how it doesn´t go all the way up to the ceiling, but is kept low. This way the top shelf can be used like a dresser top, displaying your favorite things. The shelving takes the attention away from the big t.v. and gives the room a perfect focal point. Love it! Have a fab weekend dears!

Inspiring midcentury floor tiles!

Remember when we were little, homes used to have those colourful midcentury patterned floor tiles? I used to hate those tiles back then, thinking they were quite hidious. I remember that in my bedroom I used to have a brown with white patterned tiles and orange walls! Yikes! But that was in the seventies and early eighties. Later on my parents remodeled the house and put elegant white tiles with a fine grey marble pattern throughout the entire house. And my room was painted a soft girly pink with lilac accents, thank God. I recently came across some pictures where I noticed those midcentury patterned floor tiles again and I do have to say I now kinda like it, a lot. It gives a space so much character. Maybe it's because it makes me feel nostalgic, but I think these floor tiles need to have a come back, what do you think?

Lately I have been experiencing a bit of lack of inspiration, the reason why I haven't been blogging as frequently. Most bloggers out there know this feeling, I'm sure. I found the images of this fantastic industrial loft in my archives and had to share them with all of you. I really love the loft look and especially a worn out and beaten up brick wall. It gives this place instant coolness, don't you think? I wish I knew where this place was so I could pack my bags and move in. Right now! Excellent place!!!

Here is a look at Donna Karen's NY apartment. It is minimalistic with sober colours combined with asian influences. I can imagine that this apartment is a peaceful refuge for the busy fashion designer living in a hectic city. And even though there is a lot of black used throughout the place, it doesn't feel heavy, the space still feels very light and spacious. Nicely done Donna!

As in every weekend quick list I share an image of my favorite space this week. I chose this one as eye candy of the week because of it's calm and serene atmosphere. And I love the touches of yellow. I've heard that the colour yellow represents optimism, renewal and hope. And that is what I wish for the world right now.

Even though I'm a earth-tone kinda girl I fell head over heel for this room! I love the calm and serene feel of this space. I believe the basic colour is a very very pale grey/bleu-ish white. Adding a few great accesories in a stronger colour, like the cushions and the artwork above the fireplace, makes the space perfect. Yep, I love this room!

Colour your home pretty for Spring

Winter is slowly drifting past and at this time many of us start feeling the urge to beautify the home to welcome springtime. Painting a wall or two a new colour is the perfect way to give your home a fresh new look. I've had a look at the 2011 paint collections of the brands Flexa and Histor and selected my favorites, the colours I personally believe are the freshest and trendiest. My picks: spicy yellows, sturdy greens and fresh pastels.

I love the curry-ish yellow in the top image and think it would make a perfect accent colour. I've noticed a lot of different shades of yellow popping up in interiors everywhere lately and for me it is the trendiest colour right now. Army-like green is always a very cool colour, don't you agree? Not only in a boy's room. And Histor also has some new pastel colours that are just fresh and would look good in any home. The soft lilac, especially combined with the light blue is fab.

My favorite pastel pick by Flexa is the powdery pink called Luchtbel, which means air bubble in Dutch. And in the yellow spectrum I'm really loving this mustard colour. Doesn't it just spice up that room? And talking about spicing up a room, I love the greens below! The darker shade is called Royal jade and the lighter shade is called Tender jade, both from the Pure collection.

Rock 'n Roll home

When I look at this place it says Rock 'n Roll to me. Cool, dark, edgy. Love the large Marilyn Monroe (I think it's her) framed image in the lving room. White bedroom, but styled just the right way to keep it Rock 'n Roll. Love the chrome ball lamps in the kitchen and bedroom. Makes you wonder who lives there...

Colour inspiration: little pops of colour

When you're going to do colour in your home it is difficult to decide how to do it, tastefully. Do you just choose one colour or more? How do you apply the colour(s) you choose? Do you paint the walls or do you just do colourful accessories? I myself am a earth tone, mocca and natural colours kinda girl. But when colours are done right, I really love it. Here are a few images colourful interiors beautifully done.

Above you see that a room that has grey as a basic colour just comes alive with some touches of colours. By choosing colours in the same colour range (orange, reds, pinks, lilacs) it gives it a chic and warm look. What's easy about this is that you can easily change the cushions into some purple and blue toned cushions and the room will have an entirely different look, more cool.

You can also keep the basic all white and add little pops of colours with for example colourful furniture, like the chaires in the left image above. Or choose colourful artwork and some cushions (cushions are the BEST home accessories ever!)

Choosing one area of your house to display your collection of colourful vases can also do the trick. That way you keep te rest of the house more neutral.

This is a great idea especially for a work space/home office. And you can change the images around, replace them with new ones when you get tired of them.

And if you're a little braver you can always paint the walls. This is a more permanent change, but combined with the right accessories it can ad so much character to a room.

Church in the Netherlands becomes beautiful townhouse - amen!

It must be a unique experience to live in a church! Yes, that's right! Here in the Netherlands, in the city of Utrecht to be precise, lies the St. Jacobus church. This beautiful gothic church, that is a municipal monument, was remodeled and under strict and close supervision transformed into a townhouse that is absolutely stunning. By keeping the furniture and decorating to a minimum the features of this building are even more accentuated. The high ceilings, the stained glass windows, the many floors/layers, the tremendous amount of light that comes in, the shape of the building all make it special. I love the paintings too. But the building itself is the best feature, don't you agree? This home is for sale! So, if you can afford the asking price, it's all yours. And pleeeease invite me over for coffee! We design and decor lovers are always obsessing over something. For me it used to be the Tom Dixon Copper shade lamp. I now have this lamp and so, I need something new to obsess over! My current obsession is this forrest wallpaper by Cole and Son. I had seen it before on different blogs. Then I saw it in the movie Orphan, the family's home was decorated with the grey and white version of this wallpaper. It was then that I saw how very super cool this wallpaper is. Hello there! I hope you've enjoyed your weekend. Today I want to put the spotlight on the label Gelukkig, which means happy in Dutch. Gelukkig is an all Dutch furniture and accessories label (all produced in the Netherlands) with the aim to make a few good, basic designs that you then can combine with eachother, creating your own personal style. The couch (above) in denim fabric looks really comfy. I lke the simple design, Now, throw these fab pillows on it and you'll have one cool looking couch.

This armchair is called Nest and looks like you can curl up in it and stay there for quite a while. I love the zipper accent!

These side tables are so cute! I love the retro yet fresh look. I definitely have a crush on the first one. Would love to have it for my little balcony!

I am not a huge fan of John Legend's music, but I am a HUGE fan of his NY apartment - which he shares with his girlfriend (lucky woman!) The place is just jaw dropping beautiful! I am in love with the floor-to-ceiling windows, he must have such a spectaculair view. And the colour on the wall, don't get me started on that! Sexiest grey I have seen. Eyecathcers are the custom-made bookcases displaying his awards and favorite books. But I just love everything really. So John, if you're ever looking for a house-sitter when you're out of town, CALL ME! Seriously!

DIY tip! Easy headboard...

I was flipping through my folders with collected images and came across this one and thought: 'this could be a DIY project: a quick and easy headboard'. All you need is some pretty (left over) wallpaper and some ornamental ceiling trim (I think that's what it's called in English, no?). No need for instructions, with a little imagination you should figure out how to do this one. Right? Inexpensive and easy. I love it! Happy weekend!

This time I found a true gem! The beautiful home of carpet designer Malene Barnett! Malene's has a typical Broolyn NY home with a modern and fresh twist. What I absolutely love about this place is that is very colourful, but without the colour being too overbearing. Full of colour but yet light and airy and fresh. This is colourful done the proper way!!! And I love the ethnic artifacts and the kitchen is heaven. What do you think?

Wishlist - five things to want right now!

It's been a while since I've done a wishlist but I found some cool things you'd love. And I decided to do a little theme; circles. Just because I'm really into round shaped things lately. I'll walk you through my finds. First there is this sweet white 50's inspired sofa I think is just simple and beautiful. Then there is the beautiful carpet by Raffi (I've blogged about Raffi before here), very elegant. I found this industrial white floorlamp which I think is just really cool. The coffee mugs have a subtle detail. And the gorgeous cushion by Margo Selby (whom I've blogged about before here) really pulls everything together, don't you think? Eye candy

For me this image is definitely eye candy of the week! I like the colour combination of the grey couch with the gold cushions. And I like the mustard coloured chairs in the diningroom, bringing the two area's together. And that kitchen is so great: clean and neat. Very very nice!

I'm drawn to abstract designs, that's why I love Raffi's wallpapers. Which one is your favorite?

I don't like baroque or really flowery designs. They have a bit of an oldfashioned feel to me. That is not the case with the designs by Raffi. Aren't the roses just sweet?

Raffi junior is the collection of wallpapers for kids. I think these are a few of the absolute cutest wallpaper designs for little boys rooms and little girls rooms! If I was a little girl, I'd go for the butterfly design in the right image on the last row. So adorable! Bedroom inspiration

My bedroom is in desperate need of a style splash. When I moved to my new apartment the bedroom walls had an ugly shade of kermit-ish green! So, I painted the whole room white, thinking I had to get rid of the hideous colour asap and because I thought it would make the tiny bedroom look bigger. Now it is just very white and very boring! I need to give this room a make-over and started collecting images for inspiration. I want the room to be light, airy and feminine but with character. And I have a small budget, so I'm going for small changes but with BIG impact. Here are a few of my favorite bedrooms.

I love that this room has light, creamy colours and just a few colour accents by adding some pillows and a colourful painting, soft patterned curtains and a nice plaid. And it wouldn't be to costly to pull of this look. Simple but effective.

By adding a strong colour to the walls the room has immediate character. I know, I know... it's green! But that's not the point, it's the idea of colour on the wall. Although THIS shade of green looks really good. I'm thinking of a nice, rich mocca colour instead and adding some cool cushions...

Or, I could also leave the walls white and just add few strong accents, in black perhaps. A chair, a bedspread and a tablecloth should do the trick.

This room is too white, but I've saved this image because I love the femine and romantic feel of the room. That's why I'm sharing it. Not what I'm going for however. What I do like is the idea of adding wallpaper to the wall behind the headboard (I don't like this baroque wallpaper though. I'd go for something that makes a stronger statement).

My favorite image of all is this one! I love the big window! I too have a big window in my room. I like the books in the window, the bedlinnen and love that lamp. I'm thinking of going for a similar look and adding wallpaper on the main wall. I have to figure out how to pull of this look, in a budget friendly way. What makes your bedroom special? I'd love to hear your comments!

Lonny's jan/feb 2011 edition is out

Lonny magazine's first issue of 2011 is out and again, filled with great stuff. One of my favorite features is the Blogger style segment with the author of This is Glamorous blog - sharing her favorite glamorous things. And the Soho apartment featured is a must see. My absolute favorite this issue though is the 60's inspired apartment of designer Angel Dormer (see images below). It is colourful, eclectic and filled with interesting pieces.
